Full Description: This property has some jungle, lots of fruit trees and exotic flowers, and room to expand and grow. There is even a roadside spot where a little cafe could be put in, or any number of other businesses.
There is a main house of 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. There is also a guest house that is 2 floors, very nicely designed and tucked into the wooded hillside of the property that is 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. This serves well as a guest house, or can be rented out for additional income.
The property lends itself to a family compound, or a great setting for a language school or any number of other "retreat" like applications.
THE PROPERTY
The land is 4.17 acres of rolling and immensely usable property with many fruit trees (orange, mandarin limes, starfruit, bananas, mangos, etc.) as well as some furniture grade hardwood trees. There is also a rare pine grove on the property. It is about 7 minutes West from the town center of San Isidro de General (also known as Perez Zeledon) but has the feel of being in the country. For us, who lived there as a family for several years, the location was absolutely perfect. We had all of the conveniences of a large town nearby, and a beach 35 minutes away. I should mention that we never got tired of the drive to the beach because of the truly breathtaking views all along the way. For those who prefer to live without a car, the buses and taxis will easily get you anywhere you need to go.
THE GUEST HOUSE
There is also a guest house that is 2 stories, 2 bedrooms and one bath, very nicely designed and tucked into the wooded hillside of the property. The guest house is in need of some TLC since no one has lived in it for quite some time. It is structurally sound and fundamentally a very nice place to live, BUT it does need some repair work and cleaning.
Running up the middle of the guest house is an extraordinarily beautiful, organic post of driftwood. We discovered it on the Dominical beach one day after a storm, and we knew it would be the perfect centerpiece to build the guest house around. It's a unique exotic wood like no other, but we've never been able to get the proper name for it. Some say it's Tigers Eye, but we're not sure. (I'll get a picture up soon, hopefully)
The upstairs of the guest house is one big open room that can be used as a bedroom or whatever you want it to be. The downstairs is a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. All feels nicely tucked into a wooded setting and has a great track record of pleasing visitors. Our family even lived there about six years ago, while we were doing renovations on the main house.
OTHER POSSIBLE USES FOR THE PROPERTY
Since the property has some road frontage, a commercial project could be done here with success. The road is small, but it's the main road that people use to go to and from San Isidro. We always thought that putting up a number of cabins and doing an intensive Spanish school would be a great use of this property. There's plenty of room to place cabins and you're located right in the midst of a Spanish speaking world. Since the road is close by, there are times when there's more road noise than you might care to have, but we got used to it pretty fast, as did all of our many visitors over the years.
ADDITIONAL PROPERTY FOR SALE
We have an additional 1.75 acre property for sale that has at least two building sites on it. This property is being sold separately for $110,000, but if purchased with the first property, the total price for both is $390,000.
